Knowing what books to read to grow a blog can seem daunting. From books on product launching to newsletter growth, I’m sharing my top picks for blogging entrepreneurs.
“The book you don’t read won’t help.” – Jim Rohn
“A book is a device to ignite the imagination.” – Alan Bennett
“Your mind is your library of what you read.” Lailah Gifty Akita
All of these quotes resonate with me and I bet they ring true for you, as well. Reading will help you make money blogging, spur your imagination, and allow you to grow as a business owner.
But it will also keep you grounded. Reading will keep you from making others’ mistakes, like:
- missing the precious time with your little ones.
It Is Critical You Read to Grow Your Business
Whether you enjoy ebooks, audio books, or can only read while weighing the weight of the words in your hands, knowing how and what to read to grow a blog is critical. We are greatly influenced by what we read.

How I’ve Read a Book a Week (All Year Long)!
Managing multiple websites and businesses, motherhood, self-care, and making sure I’m a good partner to my husband means my time to read is limited.
Now, I read books to read to grow a blog income while:
- preparing dinner or folding laundry,
- cleaning (it definitely helps to make the time pass), and
- while I’m lounging on the couch, deck, or waiting in the car line.
Books to Read to Grow a Blog Business
There are so many aspects to blogging: writing, marketing, selling, time management, negotiating, networking… The list goes on.
Working with hundreds of clients one-on-one, I’ve highlighted a few areas which make the most impact on their blogging businesses.
Increase Sales or Conversions
Do you sell a product? Do you want to sell more affiliate products?
Both of these books will help you create a marketing mindset while educating yourself on selling online.
Time Management, Productivity, and Delegation Books
I didn’t want to ‘jump on the bandwagon’ for either of these two books, but y’all – color me impressed with both. There are questions in The One Thing which are simple yet cut straight to the marrow in minutes!
Pitching, Negotiating, and Conference Prep
Both introverts and extroverts will gather a full box of tools with one or both of thesebooks to read to grow a blog. Both are relatively quick reads (or listens) and I’ve pulled quite a few nuggets from each.
My favorite term nowadays: behavior hacking.
Email and General Growth
There are millions of blogger-written books out there on building email lists, but I think Kirsten has written a great guide to focus on growth.
And if you’re new to sales, this is absolutely hands down one of the most valuable books on the topic which you can directly relate to content marketing. Note: the author does NOT relate any of it to blogging or content marketing but it’s easy to use the exercises to pull out your own examples.
Whether it’s an ebook, audiobook, or printed work, figuring out what books to read to grow a blog business can lead to increased productivity, creativity, and income. If you don’t have a plan, pick a book on this list – there isn’t a bad one!
